Jon Achilles – President

Jon was born and raised in Tucson and he began working in the Fabrication Shop during his teenage years. Right after high school graduation Jon started full time at Achilles and trained under the best mechanical installers. Jon served as a project manager for several years and then began to run the construction division. Jon and his team of project managers always strive to provide the best possible product and service to their customers. Jon now works in the Sales department working on estimating and preliminary design budgets. Jon values all of his fellow co-workers at Achilles and promotes a Team Approach in all aspects of the business.

Preston Achilles – Founder
Preston was born in Missouri and relocated to Tucson in 1970. Preston joined his father Lloyd in 1979 to open a contracting division. During the 80’s and 90’s Preston broadened the division to include larger commercial, industrial and medical HVAC work. Preston has served with Arizona Builders Alliance for over 20 years and was a past president. Now in its third generation, Preston’s son Jon has taken over the company and continues to build on the reputation Preston maintained for quality, dependability and service that has been our driving force for 40 years.

Bill Hutcherson – Chief Financial Officer

Bill was born in Cincinnati, Ohio but has lived in Tucson for over 30 years. He has been involved with accounting for over 25 years and always strives for accuracy. His primary objective is honesty and integrity in all financial activities at Achilles. Bill is in charge of the office and serves as part of the management team.

Jake Leonard – Plumbing Department Manager

Jake Leonard is a Journeyman Plumber with over 20 years of experience in commercial and residential plumbing. Jake has worked on a diverse range of projects from custom homes to restaurants to medical facilities. His motto is “Do it right, do it once” so he will make sure your jobs get done properly the first time around. Jake was drawn to Achilles because of their family atmosphere and the quality of their work. He looks forward to bringing his knowledge and skills to your future projects.

Nate Angelley – Electrical Department Manager

Nate has worked in construction for over 17 years and is a journeyman electrician. He owned and managed Angelley Electrical Systems where he built a well-deserved reputation for nothing but the highest quality work. As Achilles’ Electrical Department Manager, all of this is of critical importance to clients looking for the significant advantages of working with a full-service MEP company. Nate’s familiarity with the Achilles reputation for integrity, and his experience with the positive attitudes of Achilles employees and what he called the “Achilles atmosphere,” were key reasons for his joining the team.

CJ Ramirez - Mechanical Project Manager

CJ was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. He was first introduced to construction at a young age while working with his father. CJ has been an important part of the Achilles team for 9 years. He started as an apprentice and has recently moved into a project manager position. CJ has worked on several large projects for Achilles and is a very knowledgeable and skilled employee. He values teamwork, a strong work ethic, and honesty. CJ’s favorite aspect of Achilles is the staff and the positive work environment.

Matt Brown - Mechanical Project Manager

Matt joined the Achilles family in early 2000. With no prior HVAC experience, he started as an apprentice field installer/helper, but demonstrated his exceptional work ethic quickly and advanced to working on mechanical and equipment installations shortly after. The quality of Matt’s work led to his inevitable advancement into one of Achilles’ field foremen and, ultimately, a key project manager. In 2015 Matt left Achilles to pursue knowledge expansion/career advancement opportunities and, with that accomplished, rejoined Achilles in 2021 as an important part of our project management team.

Phil Gamez - Mechanical Project Manager

Phil Gamez has been with Achilles since the company’s founding in 1979. He started as a foreman but has been a project manager for the last several years. Being with the company since the beginning, he has been on a large variety of projects. With his knowledge and skills, Phil is an integral part of the Achilles family. 

Tommy Bingham - Mechanical Project Manager

Tommy started as a foreman at Achilles is 2018 and has since moved into a project manager role. He grew up in Stanfield Arizona but has been in Tucson for over 10 years. He has worked on a variety of projects over the years. At Achilles he has run large projects like the Benedictine Monastery Apartments and JTED at the Bridges. He believes that accountability, integrity, and reliability are very important traits and strives to hold himself to these standards. He is proud of the reputation that Achilles has in the community and the great clients that we work with. Tommy is a valuable asset to the Mechanical team!

Mike Epley - Chief Estimator

Mike Epley joined Achilles in 2021, but has been in the HVAC industry since he was 16 years old. Mike has worked on several types of commercial projects including high rises, schools, prisons, hospitals, and several others. Mike’s standards for his work are quality above all else, punctuality, reliability, and integrity. He will bring these high standards to any job he works on. Achilles is proud to have Mike Epley as a valued member of our team.

Kelly Hanamoto - Project Engineer

Kelly was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii but has lived in Tucson since 2005. She started her construction career in 2007 as an administrative assistant for a heavy civil construction company. Achilles is Kelly’s first experience working for a mechanical company, but she is excited to be able to learn about a new trade and assist our rapidly growing mechanical department. Kelly values positivity, honesty and dependability in the workplace and enjoys the friendly and challenging atmosphere at Achilles.

Frank Corral – Service Department Manager

Frank is a newer member to Achilles but has been in the HVAC service industry and a manager for over 25 years. Frank is a Tucson native, so he understands just how important it is to stay cool in the extreme summer heat. As a manager he believes in empower his employees and is very passionate about training and developing the service technician’s skills. With his experience and excellent managerial skills, we are excited to have Frank as part of our Achilles team!

Jose Ruiz – HVAC Service Sales

Jose has lived in Tucson for over 20 years and he understands the challenges of the Tucson summers. Jose joined Achilles in 2008 and he is in charge of Sales in the service department. His vast experience enables him to present the best options to his customers.

Jon Crihfield – Shop Manager

Jon Crihfield has, quite literally, grown up with Achilles. He started working for Achilles in 1994 and became the Shop Manager a year later. For more than 20 years Jon has run the fabrication shop with efficiency and a demanding standard of quality. Under Jon’s leadership the shop has grown in both size and capability. The family-oriented atmosphere at Achilles as well as their honesty are some things Jon has always valued about the company.

Brianna Valencia - H.R. Director & Safety Officer

Brianna Valencia has been working in construction since 2020 and is the safety officer and H.R. Director here at Achilles. Brianna prides herself in being dependable, self-motivated, and confident. She enjoys the exciting, fast paced environment at Achilles and the respect that the company has for their employees. With her infectious positivity she is a crucial member of our office staff.   

Kayla Leonard - Contract Administrator

Kayla is a Tucson native with 10 years of administrative management experience. She is new to working in construction, but with a father who is a commercial plumber, she grew up around the industry. Kayla joined Achilles in 2022 as the Contract Administrator and was excited to work in the team atmosphere she had heard so much about. With her positive outlook and her dependability, Achilles is excited to have Kayla on our team.
